Howard County is joining forces with the Columbia Association to collaborate on new ways to strengthen local action on climate and energy independence.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and CA President and CEO Shawn MacInnes signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 15, outlining the areas in which the partners will work together to promote environmental sustainability.

โ€œWe are leveraging the strengths of our local partners to elevate the vision of the countyโ€™s Climate Forward Plan from a whole-of-government effort to one that is a whole-of-community approach,โ€ said Ball. โ€œThis partnership will allow us to hasten our progress toward our respective environmental goals, advance our energy independence, expand new business opportunities, strengthen the resiliency of our community, and improve quality of life.โ€
