A restaurant specializing in Indian and Pakistani fare and a brick-and-mortar store for a local online boutique are due set to open soon in the ground floor of an apartment complex on S. Broadway in Fells Point.

The eatery, to be called Saffron Grill, will serve a mix of Middle Eastern and Indian food, including kebabs, lamb and gyros. It’s set to have a soft opening next month, with a more official grand opening scheduled for early February. Owner Syed Zaidis said in a release that “we look forward to adding a different option to the standard American fare in Fells Point.” But they’ll have some of that too, including staples like burgers and shakes.

It’ll be located at 616 S. Broadway, the space left vacant by Smashburger more than two years ago.

Two doors down, at 612 S. Broadway, Melissa Bona will be opening a storefront for her boutique, Mint & Major, which sells beauty goods, jewelry, home accessories, shoes and other items from mostly women-owned companies online. Bona launched the company earlier this year.

Klein Enterprises, which developed the complex on that block as the Marketplace at Fells Point, announced the pair of new retailers. The development span both sides of S. Broadway and includes 159 apartments and ground-floor retail. Existing tenants include Unleashed by Petco, Kippo Ramen, Sammy’s Enoteca, a bank and a nail salon.

Fells Point’s new additions will sit directly in front of the revamped Broadway Market in the center of S. Broadway, due to open sometime next year.
