The Inner Harbor Ice Rink will be back for the next three winter seasons, the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore announced Monday.
With a gift granted by Pearlstone Family Fund and the Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds, the ice rink will continue to serve seasonal cheer to Baltimore residents and visitors alike.
The ice rink will return to the Inner Harbor on Nov. 11, 2022, and will remain open through Jan. 16, 2023. The rink will be located at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater between the two Harborplace pavilions.
“The Inner Harbor Ice Rink has become a tradition for families as a destination during the holiday season, and the support of the Pearlstones and Meyerhoffs – who themselves are family – makes this commitment particularly special,” said Laurie Schwartz, the president of the Waterfront Partnership, in a statement.
Both the Pearlstone Family Fund and the Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family have committed to giving the Waterfront Partnership $150,000 to fund the endeavor.
This is not the first time that the Meyerhoff Family has shown its support for the Inner Harbor Ice Rink; in 2019, Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds acted as the ice rink’s lead sponsor, granting $115,000 to allow the ice rink to operate that season after the rink’s previous corporate sponsor pulled out.
Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds are major contributors to Baltimore non-profit organizations, and “support organizations working to sustain middle neighborhoods and the fabric of life in Baltimore City,” according to a press release.
Other organizations supported by Joseph & Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds include the University of Maryland Social Work Community Outreach Service, Maryland Science Center, and The Belair-Edison School.
Established in the 1980s, the Pearlstone Family Fund supports organizations working to “strengthen Jewish life in communities throughout the world.” They are also large supporters of Baltimore arts and culture.
As with previous operating seasons, Magic Ice USA will manage the Inner Harbor Ice Rink.
