Baltimore City has a comprehensive economic development strategy, and leaders are seeking feedback before it goes into final form.
The plan, called “Baltimore Together: A Platform for Inclusive Prosperity,” is open until Sept. 30 for public comment.
Helmed by the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC), which is the City’s economic development agency, the plan counts creating an equitable economy and building an innovation ecosystem among its main objectives for the economy.

Investing in renovations, new construction for anchor uses at the center areas of the various commercial districts for the “City of Neighborhoods” might be worth the tax investment vs. giveaways to Developers with no clawback provisions when expectations are not met and don’t match the marketing talk/vision.
Grocers, Health Clubs, Libraries, Medical Bldgs., etc… all make fine anchor uses for a walk, scoot, bike trip or short car ride to a local town center. Maybe a mid block parking deck might have to be built like Annapolis’s Hillman Garage to create and allow room for decent architectural street walls, townscape, urban spaces and pocket parks, etc… to develop vs. just more anti urban parking lots.
