Ships are arriving in Baltimore’s harbor and aircraft are flying overhead to celebrate Sail250 Maryland & Airshow Baltimore and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

After kicking off June 24, the free, family-friendly event will run through July 1. To enjoy the sights, residents and visitors will want to be aware of road closures and transit changes.

Baltimore City has closed the following roads during all or part of the weeklong event:

  • Cromwell Street will be closed between House Street and Terrapin Way from Thursday, June 25, at 7 p.m. through Sunday, June 28, at 8 p.m.
  • Cromwell Street will be closed between Rye and Distillery streets from Thursday, June 25, at 7 p.m. through Sunday, June 28, at 8 p.m.
  • Tidewater Street (Circle) will be closed south of East Cromwell Street from Thursday, June 25, at 7 p.m. through Sunday, June 28, at 8 p.m.
  • Fort Avenue will be closed at Andre Street (access maintained for local traffic only) from Friday, June 26, through Sunday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Only credentialed vehicles may travel east of the railroad bridge.
  • East Coast Greenway will be closed at West Shore Park from Lee to Barre streets (bike lane will remain open) from Tuesday, June 23, at 7 a.m. through Tuesday, June 30, at 4 p.m. 

The Harbor Connector free water taxi will operate Monday through Friday with expanded HC2 service.

  • HC1: Locust Point, Maritime Park from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., every 15 minutes.
  • HC2: Canton, Locust Point, Maritime Park from 7:15 a.m. to 8 p.m.; clockwise loop until 2:05 p.m.; counter‑clockwise afterward, every 45 minutes.
  • HC3: Federal Hill, Pier 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., every 15 minutes.

Charm City Circulator buses will operate on their normal schedule and routes, with added service near Fort McHenry and Baltimore Peninsula. There will be extra buses on the Banner and Cherry routes.

The Charm City Circulator hours of operation are as follows:

  • June 24 and June 25: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • June 26: 7 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • June 27: 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • June 28: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • June 29 to July 1: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

MDOT MTA will provide regular bus service and a special shuttle to Fort McHenry along Fort Avenue.

City officials encourage residents and visitors to use dockless vehicles, including rentable scooters and e-bikes, to visit Sail250 festival locations.

There will be discounts for parking scooters and e-bikes in designated corrals.

The Department of Transportation is encouraging residents and visitors to plan ahead, use transit when possible, allow for extra travel time, and consult the Sail 250 DOT Services and Road Closures Web App.
