Secretary of State John Kerry will make a stop in Chicago today to meet the parents of Anne Smedinghoff, the 25-year-old Hopkins grad who was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan as she was delivering books to a school in Kandahar.
Kerry met Smedinghoff herself late last month, and he’s been praising her “drive and ambition” at stops in the Middle East on a country-hopping trip that began April 6, the day Smedinghoff was killed.
As you’d expect, the meeting between Kerry and Smedinghoff’s parents will be private.
