According to the U.S. News & World Report, Johns Hopkins is the twelfth-best university in the United States; according to the Center for World-Class Universities (which sounds fake but is actually real), the Baltimore-based school is the sixteenth-best in the whole wide world. Put simply: It’s a very good school.
The international universities list is also known as the Shanghai Ranking, and it’s put out by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It lists the top five world universities as:
While the U.S. News rankings include such metrics as class size and alumni retention, the Shanghai Ranking focuses on things like how many faculty members have won Nobel Prizes or published highly-cited research papers. It’s no surprise, then, that Hopkins ranks so highly.
