The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland announced today that Justin Fitch, Class of 2005, is the new Head Varsity Wrestling Coach.

Coach John Sergeant, who served as Head Coach for one season, will remain on staff as the Associate Head Coach.  Boys’ Latin thanks Coach Sergeant for his continued dedication to our boys and wrestling program.

Coach Fitch, who was a stellar soccer player and wrestler at Boys’ Latin, is excited to return to teach, mentor and nurture our Lakers.  He will teach math in our Middle School and oversee the Junior League/Middle School wrestling squads, and the upper school program.  Coach Fitch served as the varsity assistant last season.

“As a former BL wrestler, I care deeply about the school wrestling program and the sport of wrestling itself,” Fitch said. “I’m honored and absolutely thrilled for the opportunity to head up the varsity wrestling team. I aspire to bring the BL wrestling program to new heights and to instill the values of hard work, discipline and sportsmanship to our young men here at Boys’ Latin.”

Coach Fitch is a graduate of Muhlenberg College. While attending Muhlenberg, Coach Fitch was a four-time letter winning in wrestling and was twice Centennial Conference runner up. As a freshman, he wrestled 165 and later wrestled at 174. He made the National Rankings Contender List for Division III wrestlers. As a senior, Coach Fitch was named captain of the team.

Boys’ Latin’s athletic community is very excited to have such a committed coach leading our wrestling program.
