Now that baseball season is here, it’s almost time to sit outside and listen to some music. As such, the lineup announcements have started for local festivals. Here’s a look at the early word on three spring and summer events that are either in town, or close enough for a comfortable road trip:
The Charm City Folk and Bluegrass Festival is back at Druid Hill Park on April 30. This year’s chosen ramblers include Ricky Skaggs and Keller Williams. As always, great names abound, with Man About a Horse and Ampersand Stringband also among the lineup. Union is providing the beer.
WTMD’s First Thursdays returns May 5 at Canton Waterfront Park. The first lineup is Ra Ra Riot, Hey Marseilles and Moreland and Arbuckle. The June lineup includes Boy & Bear, Andy Bopp, Basia Bulat The beer sold at this event is Brewer’s Art.
Fields Festival is a chance for members of the local music scene to get out of basements and clubs for an outdoor festival. The weekend-long event is set for August 19-21 at Ramblewood Campgrounds in Darlington. Stepping into the light are Deakin of Animal Collective, Dan Deacon, Flock of Dimes (featuring Wye Oak members) and many other local acts. From out of town, Wolf Eyes and Deradoorian are also making the trip to perform.
