Lionel Richie’s Knee Surgery Postpones Tour that was Set to Begin in Baltimore

Wear and tear — and a recent knee operation — for Lionel Richie have postponed the pop-R&B singer’s planned tour with Mariah Carey that was set to begin in Baltimore next month.

Richie and Carey were going to kick off their “All the Hits” tour for 2017 at Royal Farms Arena on March 15. Sadly, Richie said in a statement today to entertainment news site E! that he’s not yet ready for any “Dancing on the Ceiling” in Baltimore, or anywhere for that matter.

“When you have been performing as long as I have, it takes a toll on your body. Unfortunately my recovery from a knee procedure will not have me 100% ready to start the tour next month,” he said.

Royal Farms Arena promptly announced on Twitter that it will honor any tickets for the rescheduled date of their performance.

Baltimore’s isn’t the only one suffering from the announcement; 34 other venues across the United States and Canada will also have to set new dates for the superstar pair of singers.

Richie hadn’t given any sign that his body was troubling him this much. He tweeted only two days ago, “Can’t believe we’re less than a month away already till my new tour starts! See you soon…”

The good news is that the tour hasn’t been cancelled. Concertgoers can expect to hear “all the hits” in the near future, from “All Night Long” to “Three Times a Lady” and, hopefully with an assist from Carey, “Endless Love.” We’ll keep an eye out for the new date.
