There’s going to be more room to bring your bike when riding the rails to DC.
According to the Washington Post, the MARC is set to add more cars with bike racks in 2017. The MTA wants one bike car for every train on the three MARC lines by the end of the year.
The plans follow a bike car pilot on the MARC Penn line during weekend service that started in 2014. Apparently, the test went well, and they doubled service in 2015. Overall the MTA wants to have a “last-mile” solution so folks have a ride with them when they get on and off at the station.
“Then it becomes a real transportation option,” Greg Billing, executive director of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, told WaPo.
