Despite “most law enforcement” publicly opposing the idea, a bill to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana won preliminary approval in the state Senate yesterday.
To quell fears about the message this might send “to our kids,” the bill includes a provision for juveniles that puts them in front of a judge who could order drug treatment upon a third offense.
The House Judiciary Committee will hear a decriminalization bill from gubernatorial candidate Del. Heather Mizeur today.
