Next summer marks the 250th anniversary of the nationโs founding, and SAIL250 Maryland and Airshow Baltimore is planning to commemorate the occasion with a week-long celebration from June 24-July 1, 2026.
SAIL250 Maryland and Airshow Baltimore is a free, family friendly festival celebrating all things maritime and aviation with all the exciting and educational programming a boat and plane fan could hope for. Part of a five-city, semi-quincentennial (250) commemorative event, it features a traveling flotilla of military and international tall ships that will sail from New Orleans to Norfolk, to Baltimore, to New York, and finally up to Boston.
The show will bring sailors and aviators from around the globe together in a spirit of freedom, camaraderie, and spirit of cooperation to celebrate the United States of Americaโs 250th anniversary. United States and international naval vessels, United States Coast Guard ships, a fleet of international tall ships, sea service and other historic sailing vessels will be in port and open for free public tours during the event at various locations in and around the city.
The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, The Blue Angels, will be the stars of the Baltimore Airshow over Baltimore Harbor visible from Fort McHenry, Baltimore Peninsula, Canton Waterfront Park, and other areas around the harbor. In addition, there will be flyovers and other aviation demonstrations taking place at Baltimoreโs Inner Harbor.
Portions of the commemoration will be spread across Baltimore with festivals at the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, the Baltimore Peninsula, and Martin State Airport. All will showcase Baltimoreโs local food, beverages, live music, family-friendly fun, and maritime-themed vendors.
The Inner Harbor Festival will spotlight hands-on STEM and STEAM education activities, encouraging young minds to explore technology and maritime careers. The Historic Ships in Baltimore โ including the USS Constellation and the USS Torsk โ will host living history exhibits and demonstrations. They and the U.S. Navy ships will offer glimpses into Americaโs heritage and honor 250 years of naval history.
