A federal district judge in Maryland ruled Monday the Trump administration cannot proceed with moving the new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters from Greenbelt to Washington D.C.

Under the Biden administration in 2023, a site next to the Greenbelt Metro Station in Prince Georgeโ€™s County was selected as the new home for the FBI building, promising an economic boost to a majority-Black county.

But President Donald Trump said last March he was not going to let the move happen, calling Maryland a โ€œliberal stateโ€ and arguing the FBI headquarters should be in close proximity to the U.S. Department of Justice located within the nationโ€™s capital.
