Maryland health officials have reported fewer than 1,000 daily new coronavirus cases for six consecutive days, state data showed Thursday.
The daily new case total has been below the 1,000-case mark since the state recorded 1,008 new cases on Feb. 19.
As of Thursday, Maryland has confirmed a total of 379,466 positive coronavirus cases, including 976 reported on Thursday, an increase of about 0.26%.
There have been 2,979,131 Marylanders who have tested negative for the virus, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland has completed 7,755,974 coronavirus tests to date, with 37,734 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
State officials on Thursday reported 16 additional coronavirus-related deaths, brining Maryland’s total number of COVID-19 fatalities to 7,623. There are also 182 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
Over the last seven days, an average of 3.74% of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 4.15% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 3.47% for Marylanders older than 35.
Of the 952 Marylanders who are currently hospitalized with coronavirus, 709 are in acute care and 243 are in intensive care.
The state’s current COVID-19 hospitalizations saw a slight decrease of eight patients, with two fewer coronavirus patients in acute care and six fewer in intensive care.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 34,759 people with COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The state has distributed the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 784,265 Marylanders, including 15,797 who received it in the past 24 hours.
Of the Maryland recipients of the first vaccine dose, 403,542 individuals have received the second vaccine dose, including 22,743 people in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 72,788 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 62,896 in Montgomery County; 50,482 in Baltimore County; 40,141 in Baltimore City; 35,410 in Anne Arundel County; 16,826 in Frederick County; 15,682 in Howard County; 12,403 in Harford County; 12,344 in Washington County; 8,830 in Charles County; 7,486 in Carroll County; 6,735 in Wicomico County; 6,399 in Allegany County; 5,066 in St. Mary’s County; 4,991 in Cecil County; 3,634 in Calvert County; 3,252 in Worcester County; 2,559 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,372 in Somerset County; 2,327 in Dorchester County; 2,027 in Caroline County; 1,867 in Talbot County; 1,840 in Garrett County; and 1,109 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 18,847 are people age 9 or younger; 36,293 are people ages 10-19; 68,877 are people ages 20-29; 65,219 are people ages 30-39; 57,581 are people ages 40-49; 57,257 are people ages 50-59; 38,760 are people ages 60-69; 22,046 are people ages 70-79; and 14,586 are people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 198,634 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 180,832 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 108,638 are Black, 61,141 are Hispanic, 131,069 are white, 8,541 are Asian, 17,810 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,267.
Nationwide, there have been at least 28,336,782 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 505,945 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 344.1 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
