
Maryland is just shy of confirming its 8,000th coronavirus-related death after state officials on Monday reported 14 more Marylanders have died from the virus, raising the state’s total number of COVID-19 fatalities to 7,999.
There are also 185 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Officials confirmed 682 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state’s total caseload to 400,705 on Monday. The state surpassed the 400,000-case mark on Sunday.
There are 3,120,390 Marylanders who have tested negative for COVID-19 to date.
Maryland has completed 8,511,991 coronavirus tests to date, with 17,260 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
On average, 4.37% of the state’s coronavirus tests over the last seven days came back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 4.78% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 4.09% for Marylanders older than 35.
Currently, 866 Marylanders are hospitalized with coronavirus-related illness, including 661 who are in acute care and 205 who are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients rose by 13 while the number of intensive care patients rose by one, marking a net increase of 14 more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Sunday.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 36,855 COVID-19 patients to date.
Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 1,425,767 first doses and 733,840 second doses.
In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 21,082 first doses and 9,785 second doses.
Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 56,773 people, including 638 doses that were administered in the past 24 hours.
A total of 790,613 Marylanders have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Monday.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, there have been 76,481 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 65,596 in Montgomery County; 53,914 in Baltimore County; 42,839 in Baltimore City; 37,799 in Anne Arundel County; 17,772 in Frederick County; 16,776 in Howard County; 13,376 in Harford County; 12,894 in Washington County; 9,465 in Charles County; 7,984 in Carroll County; 6,977 in Wicomico County; 6,463 in Allegany County; 5,323 in St. Mary’s County; 5,226 in Cecil County; 3,821 in Calvert County; 3,318 in Worcester County; 2,663 Queen Anne’s County; 2,447 in Somerset County; 2,440 in Dorchester County; 2,083 in Caroline County; 1,940 in Talbot County; 1,888 in Garrett County; and 1,220 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed coronavirus cases, 117,092 are Black, 63,655 are Hispanic, 139,879 are white, 9,391 are Asian, 18,973 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 51,715.
The state has confirmed 20,428 cases in people age 9 or younger; 39,095 in people ages 10-19; 73,042 in people ages 20-29; 68,692 in people ages 30-39; 60,465 in people ages 40-49; 60,312 in people ages 50-59; 40,739 in people ages 60-69; 22,935 in people ages 70-79; and 14,997 in people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 209,326 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 191,379 as male.
Nationwide, there have been at least 29,819,314 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 542,359 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 382.2 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
