Maryland Opera will once again bring opera to the outdoors with the “First Fridays at Boordy Vineyards” concert series this summer.
On the first Friday of every month from May through October, Maryland Opera’s artists will perform at Boordy Vineyards, an idyllic venue in Hydes, Md.
In 2020, Maryland Opera brought music outdoors to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions in its series “Arias Alfresco.” The opera continued outdoor performances with the First Fridays at Boordy Vineyard series in 2021.
“This lovely, sylvan outdoor setting will provide an unforgettable backdrop to the beautiful music,” said artistic director James Harp in a statement. “Especially during these uncertain times, we recognize now more than ever the privilege and treasure it is to experience a live music performance,” he said.
First Fridays at Boordy Vineyards will feature hour-long concerts with selections from opera, operetta, and Broadway. The series will also include guest performances by Opera Campers. Harp will accompany each selection on the piano.
First Fridays will kick off on Friday, May 6 at the vineyard at 12820 Long Green Pike. Each concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets cost $20 and are available online or by calling 484-678-6041. They will also be available at the door on the day of the performance.
