The seven-day average rate of positive coronavirus tests in Maryland continues to decline, with the average sitting at 2.65 percent as of yesterday, state data show.

The average positivity rate has decreased for seven consecutive days since reaching 3.62 percent on Sept. 14.

Among Marylanders younger than 35, the average rate of positive tests yesterday was 3.59 percent, while the average was 2.09 percent for Marylanders older than 35.

At least 120,912 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 1,423,102 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 344, an increase of about 0.3 percent.

Of the state’s total number of confirmed cases, 15,237 people who tested positive for COVID-19 were hospitalized at some point, including 309 who are currently hospitalized.

Of those currently hospitalized, 232 are in acute care and 77 are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients climbed by 13 while the number of intensive care patients rose by six, marking a net increase of 19 more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Monday.

The state has completed 2,422,067 coronavirus tests to date, with 14,449 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

Maryland reported an additional nine coronavirus-related deaths since Monday, bringing the total number of fatal cases in the state to 3,748. There are also 147 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 28,715 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 21,933 in Montgomery County; 17,523 in Baltimore County; 15,292 in Baltimore City; 9,713 in Anne Arundel County; 4,968 in Howard County; 3,938 in Frederick County; 2,945 in Harford County; 2,716 in Charles County; 1,917 in Carroll County; 1,914 in Wicomico County; 1,676 in Washington County; 1,257 in St. Mary’s County; 1,017 in Cecil County; 1,010 in Worcester County; 914 in Calvert County; 640 in Queen Anne’s County; 638 in Caroline County; 578 in Dorchester County; 543 in Talbot County; 450 in Allegany County; 297 in Kent County; 246 in Somerset County; and 72 in Garrett County, according to the dashboard.

Of the state’s confirmed cases, 4,462 have been people age 9 or younger; 10,015 have been people ages 10-19; 22,735 have been people ages 20-29; 21,933 have been people ages 30-39; 19,407 have been people ages 40-49; 17,645 have been people ages 50-59; 11,839 have been people ages 60-69; 7,091 have been people ages 70-79; and 5,785 have been people age 80 or older.

Maryland has identified 63,901 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 57,011 as male.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for coronavirus, 38,481 have been Black, 26,382 have been Hispanic, 29,945 have been white, 2,293 have been Asian, 5,559 have been another race, and data is not available for the remaining 18,252.

Nationwide, there have been at least 6,859,117 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 199,911 deaths and 2,615,949 recoveries. More than 95.8 million people in the U.S. have been tested for COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
