Pepper House, the Ellicott City eatery that Yelp honored as the 11th best Chinese restaurant in the country in 2024, is expanding to Baltimore.

The new location is scheduled to open in mid-October in the R. House food hall at 301 W. 29th St. in Baltimore’s Remington neighborhood.

In 2021, owners Yuan Shen and Frank Liang opened Pepper House at 10176 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City.

They serve food that is authentic to China’s Sichuan province, including noodles, dumplings, wontons, fried rice, and more.

“Sichuan cuisine is famous for being spicy and fragrant, as well as using the numbing Sichuan peppercorn,” the restaurant’s website describes.

Customers can customize dishes to fit their desired level of spiciness and numbing, including “none,” “little,” “normal,” or “very spicy.”

Pepper House cooks with their housemade chili oil, which customers can also buy jars to use in their own home cooking.
