The Maryland Zoo is dropping the price of admission as the weather gets colder.

Normally $33, general admission to the zoo will fall to $24 from December through February.

The lower pricing kicks off Dec. 1. Normal pricing will return March 1.

“The variety of animals you’ll be able to see each day depends on the weather conditions,” Maryland Zoo President and CEO Kirby Fowler said in a statement. “We make every effort to give our guests an amazing experience, but the health and safety of the animals are always our top priorities.”

Visitors can likely see prairie dogs, African penguins, Amur leopard, cheetahs, lions, otters and certain other animals during the colder weather.

Chimpanzees and giraffes may also be visible in their indoor areas. For more information, visit the Maryland Zoo’s website.

  1. It has been a few years since I have visited the zoo so I was a little taken aback at the usual $33 admission. How does anyone afford to take a family? I imagine this is one way to get people to buy a membership.
