Maryland’s seven-day average COVID-19 positivity rate dipped below 1% on Wednesday for the first time during the pandemic.
Over the last seven days, an average of 0.95% of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 1.02% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 0.9% for Marylanders older than 35.
At least 460,863 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,520,445 have tested negative as of Wednesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland’s coronavirus caseload rose by 126 cases, an increase of about 0.03%.
The state has completed 10,548,669 coronavirus tests to date, with 16,467 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
The number of Marylanders currently hospitalized with COVID-19 fell by 32 to 243 coronavirus patients on Wednesday.
Of those currently hospitalized, 177 are in acute care and 66 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients dropped by 23 while the number of intensive care patients fell by nine.
Maryland has recorded a total of 43,469 coronavirus-related hospitalizations to date.
A total of 9,442 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with four additional deaths reported since Tuesday. There are also 216 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
A total of 3,057,322 Marylanders, half of the state’s population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Wednesday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday reported that 71.2% of Marylanders age 18 and older have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 3,293,951 first doses and 2,814,384 second doses.
In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 9,030 first doses and 20,699 second doses.
Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 242,938 people, including 909 doses that were reported in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, there have been 85,239 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 71,010 in Montgomery County; 65,771 in Baltimore County; 52,967 in Baltimore City; 43,862 in Anne Arundel County; 19,795 in Frederick County; 19,259 in Howard County; 16,602 in Harford County; 14,626 in Washington County; 10,899 in Charles County; 9,503 in Carroll County; 7,700 in Wicomico County; 7,025 in Allegany County; 6,311 in Cecil County; 6,038 in St. Mary’s County; 4,227 in Calvert County; 3,668 in Worcester County; 3,002 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,840 in Dorchester County; 2,613 in Somerset County; 2,347 in Caroline County; 2,169 in Talbot County; 2,040 in Garrett County; and 1,350 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 26,024 are people age 9 or younger; 47,545 are people ages 10-19; 84,476 are people ages 20-29; 78,953 are people ages 30-39; 68,646 are people ages 40-49; 68,575 are people ages 50-59; 45,658 are people ages 60-69; 25,073 are people ages 70-79; and 15,913 are people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 241,080 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 219,783 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 143,282 are Black, 11,136 are Asian, 162,988 are white, 69,805 are Hispanic, 21,468 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,184.
Nationwide, there have been at least 33,393,990 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 598,333 deaths. The U.S. has administered 303,537,024 coronavirus vaccine doses to date as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
