Maryland officials on Thursday reported 86 fewer people currently hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Wednesday.

Of the state’s 1,843 current COVID-19 hospital patients, 1,418 are in acute care and 425 are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients fell by 57 while the number of intensive care patients declined by 29.

Maryland has hospitalized a total of 29,123 people with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

At least 317,815 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,679,345 have tested negative as of Thursday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

The state’s coronavirus caseload rose by 2,948, an increase of about 0.94%.

A total of 6,277 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with 44 additional deaths reported since Wednesday. There are also 172 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

Maryland has completed 6,298,178 coronavirus tests to date, with 43,826 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

On average, 8.43% of the state’s coronavirus tests over the last seven days have come back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 8.81% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 8.19% for Marylanders older than 35.

The state has distributed the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 178,415 Marylanders, including 13,508 who received it in the past 24 hours.

Of the Maryland recipients of the first vaccine dose, 15,840 individuals have received the second vaccine dose, including 3,136 people in the past 24 hours.

Gov. Larry Hogan will provide an update on Maryland’s COVID-19 vaccination plan at 5 p.m. Thursday.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 61,516 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 52,842 in Montgomery County; 43,103 in Baltimore County; 34,907 in Baltimore City; 29,016 in Anne Arundel County; 13,836 in Frederick County; 13,070 in Howard County; 10,122 in Washington County; 9,926 in Harford County; 6,957 in Charles County; 6,139 in Carroll County; 5,814 in Allegany County; 5,473 in Wicomico County; 4,213 in Cecil County; 3,948 in St. Mary’s County; 2,850 in Calvert County; 2,673 in Worcester County; 2,058 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,047 in Somerset County; 1,732 in Dorchester County; 1,665 in Garrett County; 1,575 in Caroline County; 1,441 in Talbot County; and 892 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

The state has confirmed 14,892 cases in people age 9 or younger; 29,454 in people ages 10-19; 58,464 in people ages 20-29; 55,448 in people ages 30-39; 48,930 in people ages 40-49; 47,857 in people ages 50-59; 32,074 in people ages 60-69; 18,350 in people ages 70-79; and 12,346 in people age 80 or older.

Maryland has identified 166,676 of the confirmed coronavirus patients as female and 151,139 as male.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 90,196 are Black, 53,182 are Hispanic, 106,595 are white, 6,783 are Asian, 14,861 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 46,198.

Nationwide, there have been at least 23,079,161 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 384,794 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 271 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
