Maryland health officials on Thursday confirmed 1,297 new cases of coronavirus and 21 new deaths.

At least 421,823 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,213,290 have tested negative as of Thursday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

Thursday’s new cases raised Maryland’s coronavirus caseload by about 0.31%.

With the 21 new coronavirus-related deaths reported on Thursday, a total of 8,224 Marylanders have died from COVID-19 to date. There are also 186 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

Currently, 1,216 Marylanders are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 935 who are in acute care and 281 who are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients grew by 12 while the number of intensive care patients rose by four, marking a net increase of 16 more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Wednesday.

To date, Maryland has hospitalized a total of 38,827 coronavirus patients.

The state has completed 9,001,970 coronavirus tests to date, with 35,961 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

On average, 5.56% of the state’s COVID-19 tests over the last seven days came back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 5.83% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 5.35% for Marylanders older than 35.

Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 1,965,844 first doses and 1,109,331 second doses.

In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 35,468 first doses and 30,191 second doses.

Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 117,630 people, including 11,026 doses that were administered in the past 24 hours.

A total of 1,226,961 Marylanders have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Thursday.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 79,453 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 67,613 in Montgomery County; 57,972 in Baltimore County; 46,503 in Baltimore City; 39,902 in Anne Arundel County; 18,575 in Frederick County; 17,749 in Howard County; 14,738 in Harford County; 13,529 in Washington County; 9,965 in Charles County; 8,537 in Carroll County; 7,171 in Wicomico County; 6,592 in Allegany County; 5,523 in St. Mary’s County; 5,511 in Cecil County; 3,967 in Calvert County; 3,445 in Worcester County; 2,756 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,515 in Dorchester County; 2,487 in Somerset County; 2,164 in Caroline County; 1,990 in Talbot County; 1,918 in Garrett County; and 1,248 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 22,051 are people age 9 or younger; 41,741 are people ages 10-19; 77,290 are people ages 20-29; 72,264 are people ages 30-39; 63,420 are people ages 40-49; 63,393 are people ages 50-59; 42,612 are people ages 60-69; 23,735 are people ages 70-79; and 15,317 are people age 80 or older.

Maryland has identified 220,349 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 201,474 as male.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 125,765 are Black, 10,148 are Asian, 148,238 are white, 65,666 are Hispanic, 19,730 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,276.

Nationwide, there have been at least 30,923,841 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 559,118 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 402 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
