Maryland’s coronavirus-related hospitalizations continued to fall on Thursday, with 30 fewer Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19 compared to Wednesday.
Of the 555 Marylanders who are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 412 are in acute care and 143 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients dropped by 18 while the number of intensive care patients declined by 12.
Maryland has recorded a total of 42,827 coronavirus-related hospitalizations to date.
At least 457,084 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,433,221 have tested negative as of Thursday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland’s coronavirus caseload grew by 319 cases, an increase of about 0.07%.
State officials on Thursday reported the coronavirus-related deaths of two more Marylanders, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in Maryland to 8,768. There are also 191 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
The state has completed 10,179,040 coronavirus tests to date, with 29,948 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
On average, 2.06% of the state’s COVID-19 tests over the last seven days came back positive.
The metric has been trending downward for more than a month now.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 2.25% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 1.93% for Marylanders older than 35.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported that 67.3% of Marylanders age 18 and older have received at least one vaccine dose.
Maryland has fully vaccinated a total of 2,675,098 residents, state data showed on Thursday.
Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 3,066,993 first doses and 2,454,258 second doses.
In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 24,060 first doses and 33,035 second doses.
Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 220,840 people, including 1,803 doses that were reported in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 84,608 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 70,615 in Montgomery County; 65,141 in Baltimore County; 52,441 in Baltimore City; 43,545 in Anne Arundel County; 19,683 in Frederick County; 19,131 in Howard County; 16,472 in Harford County; 14,483 in Washington County; 10,748 in Charles County; 9,399 in Carroll County; 7,604 in Wicomico County; 6,960 in Allegany County; 6,252 in Cecil County; 5,990 in St. Mary’s County; 4,199 in Calvert County; 3,615 in Worcester County; 2,976 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,807 in Dorchester County; 2,582 in Somerset County; 2,324 in Caroline County; 2,146 in Talbot County; 2,022 in Garrett County; and 1,341 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 141,288 are Black, 11,051 are Asian, 161,478 are white, 69,192 are Hispanic, 21,340 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,735.
Maryland has identified 239,054 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 218,030 as male.
Of the state’s confirmed cases, 25,587 are people age 9 or younger; 47,045 are people ages 10-19; 83,834 are people ages 20-29; 78,311 are people ages 30-39; 68,173 are people ages 40-49; 68,077 are people ages 50-59; 45,332 are people ages 60-69; 24,904 are people ages 70-79; and 15,821 are people age 80 or older.
Nationwide, there have been at least 33,027,500 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 587,884 deaths. The U.S. has administered 276,823,705 vaccine doses to date as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
