
Maryland’s number of coronavirus patients in intensive care has fallen below 100 again after a slight uptick on Monday, according to data released by the state today.
Of the 411 Marylanders who are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 314 are in acute care and 97 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients rose by 10 while the number of intensive care patients declined by six, marking a net increase of four more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Monday.
Intensive care hospitalizations dipped below 100 this weekend for the first time since reaching 94 on March 29.
The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care fell to 98 on Saturday, increased slightly to 99 on Sunday, reached 103 on Monday and declined again to 97 today.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 14,051 people due to coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.
At least 105,046 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 1,150,519 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
The state’s coronavirus caseload rose by 377, an increase of about 0.4 percent.
Maryland has completed 1,807,573 coronavirus tests to date, with 12,870 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
Over the last seven days, an average of 3.25 percent of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 3.93 percent for Marylanders younger than 35 and 3.66 percent for Marylanders older than 35.
The state has reported 10 additional coronavirus-related deaths, brining the total number of fatal cases to 3,564. There are also 143 deaths suspected to be related to COVID-19.
As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 25,648 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 19,599 in Montgomery County; 14,823 in Baltimore County; 14,110 in Baltimore City; 8,037 in Anne Arundel County; 4,266 in Howard County; 3,376 in Frederick County; 2,344 in Harford County; 2,306 in Charles County; 1,655 in Carroll County; 1,480 in Wicomico County; 1,241 in Washington County; 1,086 in St. Mary’s County; 766 in Calvert County; 766 in Cecil County; 766 in Worcester County; 523 in Queen Anne’s County; 480 in Caroline County; 458 in Talbot County; 430 in Dorchester County; 387 Allegany County; 255 in Kent County; 181 in Somerset County; and 63 in Garrett County, according to the dashboard.
Maryland has confirmed 3,803 cases in people age 9 or younger; 7,322 in people ages 10-19; 18,801 in people ages 20-29; 19,635 in people ages 30-39; 17,431 in people ages 40-49; 15,559 in people ages 50-59; 10,588 in people ages 60-69; 6,455 in people ages 70-79; and 5,452 in people age 80 or older.
The state has identified 55,487 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 49,559 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 33,622 have been Black, 25,419 have been Hispanic, 23,574 have been white, 1,936 have been Asian, 4,610 have been another race, and data is not available for the remaining 15,885.
Nationwide, there have been at least 5,742,308 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 177,312 deaths and 2,020,774 recoveries. More than 72.8 million people in the U.S. have been tested for COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
