Up for adoption through BARCS, this sweetie suited up as a tulip to win friends and possibly influence pet costume judges as well.

Orioles catcher Matt Wieters will be in Baltimore for at least another year after accepting an offer that will make him a reported $15.8 million in 2016. Before the New Year, Wieters and his wife are giving some of their riches to our local animal shelter.

On Monday, BARCS said that Maria and Matt Wieters will match any donation up to $10,000 through the end of the year at the shelter. Maria Wieters serves on the BARCS board, and has spearheaded outreach efforts with the Oโ€™s.

BARCS has an โ€œopen admissionโ€ policy, meaning they take all pet comers. Recently, they proved that includes the slithering reptile variety. Right now, the shelter has more than 300 pets under its care.
