A rising senior at McDonogh School, Alec John Cosgarea, died Monday night when his car hit a tree while heading north on Greenspring Avenue.
The 17-year-old was a varsity swimmer and member of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club. He was heading to his home in Owings Mills following the club’s final swim meet and dinner when the accident occurred.
Scott Ward, head coach for McDonogh, told the Baltimore Sun the young man was”a truly outstanding young man and exactly who you would want on your team.”
Viewings will be held Friday at the Ruck Funeral Home, 1050 York Road in Towson, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N.Charles St.in Baltimore, at 10 a.m.
