Oh Maryland House of Delegates chamber, I knew you when!
In the third episode of the new season of House of Cards ( all episodes of which were released to Netflix Instant at once on February 14) the room where Maryland’s delegates hem and haw over difficult issues before finally passing whatever bill Gov. Martin O’Malley has asked them to pass makes an appearance about 35 minutes in.
But you may not recognize it! According to the Washington Post, the chamber was done up with “fake marble around the dais and more ornate doors” for the scene, which was filmed over two days in June.
This isn’t the first time Maryland has stood in for D.C. on the acclaimed series. In August, a presidential motorcade shoot was relocated to Baltimore after the Metro Police Department decided at the last minute that it wasn’t “going to rent itself out as extras for a film.”
