Melico Salon opened the doors to its first physical, or brick-and-mortar, storefront in Lutherville’s Ridgely Plaza.

The hair salon signed a lease for a 1,150 square-foot space at 9 W. Ridgely Road. MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services, which represented the salon and shopping center, announced the move on July 29.

“I want them when they come into Melico to really feel the love that comes through these doors,” said Melico Salon founder and owner Melissa Burgess in an Instagram post showcasing the new space. “This is really based on love, filled with love,  and I just want everyone to feel that when they come into our space.”

Melico Salon provides a wide variety of hair services, including haircuts, coloring, styling, extensions and treatments. It has four in-house hair stylists and two independent stylists. Burgess specializes in “platinum blondes, blended blondes, vivids, and custom haircuts,” according to the salon’s website.

“When someone sees themselves in the mirror for the first time, I hope that they look and feel their best because they deserve it,” Burgess said. “Everyone deserves to feel great in their own skin, and hair is a great reflection of that.”

The new studio first opened its doors on June 17. The storefront is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Melico Salon has generated a strong and loyal customer following, and this new space in a high-profile retail center, offers improved convenience to its clientele while also providing the opportunity to expand and attract additional patrons,” said Patrick J. Smith, a Vice President with MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services.

Melico Salon fills the spot of the previous Star Nails Salon. The location sits near the intersection of York Road and Ridgely Road. MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services estimates the area sees more than 33,000 vehicles pass through each day.

The plaza is also next to Yorkridge Shopping Center, which includes Kohl’s, MOM’s Organic Market, and the Mercy Medical Physicians Pavilion.

“This is a big step and important step for the ownership, but we are certain the investment will pay immediate and long-term dividends. The build-out of Melico Salon, which occupies the space of a former hair concept, represents a much-needed revitalization of that section of the center,” said Smith.
