Over the weekend, artists and MICA students Melissa Crisco and Sabrina Chin exhibited a site-specific video project outside a vacant duplex on Mount Royal Terrace. Video footage of neighbors engaging in daily indoors activities was projected onto the boarded-up windows on the first floor, briefly bringing the long empty house to life with domestic bustle.

The screening renewed discussion among residents of the neighborhood about the unfortunate eyesore. Though half the duplex is for sale from the city for $20,000, necessary renovations would actually bring the total price up over $300,000, which means it will likely be a long time before the students’ images of domestic activity are replaced by the real thing.
