The Midtown Community Benefits District’s Board of Directors has named Eric Souza to replace Nan Rohrer as its new president. He started this month.
Before joining Midtown, Souza was Director of Operations for the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, from August 2015 to January 2022. He has more than 12 years of experience in the Business Improvement District sector.
The Midtown Community Benefits District was authorized by law in 1996 to perform services that supplement city operations in four neighborhoods north of downtown: Bolton Hill, Charles North, Madison Park and Mount Vernon. Souza’s appointment comes more than three months after Rohrer disclosed plans to leave step down.
As Director of Operations for the Waterfront Partnership, Souza was instrumental in the group’s $16.5 million effort to rejuvenate Rash Field, on the south shore of the Inner Harbor. He also cultivated workforce development programs aimed at cleaning and greening Baltimore’s harborfront.
Before joining the Waterfront Partnership, Souza was a regional vice president for Block by Block, an organization that provides ‘clean, green and safe service personnel” for business improvement districts. A graduate of Baltimore International College, he lives in Locust Point with his wife and two daughters.
“I’ve dedicated the past twelve years of my life to working towards making Baltimore City a better place for all to live, work and play,” Souza wrote on Linked In. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve this amazing city, its residents and business partners.”
