Tolls may be going down in Baltimore’s tunnels and bridges, but public transportation fares on the surface streets and rails are taking a hike next month.
The MTA announced a new set of fares on Tuesday, which are set to take effect June 25. The fare increases are the result of legislation called the gas tax bill, according to the announcement.

As a result of the increases, base fare for MTA buses, light rail and subway will rise from $1.60 to $1.70. MARC train fares will also increase by $1. That means the prices for weekly and monthly passes will also go up.
