MTA to Conduct ‘Simulated Terrorist Attack’ on Baltimore Transit This Weekend

city_baltimore_subway2This is only a drill. Public safety agencies are set to conduct a “simulated terrorist attack” for emergency response training on Baltimore bus and subway lines this weekend.

From 9 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, about 100 first responders are set to stage the scenario near State Center Metro station. During the exercise, MTA employees will portray injured passengers. There will be large vehicles from various agencies, including police, fire Red Cross and the BPD Bomb Squad.

“Residents in the area can expect to see flashing lights of numerous emergency vehicles near the State Center Metro Subway Station during this drill,” a release states.

Bus lines 19, #21, #31 and #9 will diverted. The subway will remain operational.
