There won’t be Heartbreak Hotel on Canton Square. Nacho Mama’s is staying put.
Owners Jackie McCusker and Phil Gelso signed a new lease for their current location at 2907 O’Donnell St. Earlier this month, the owners of the much-loved Elvis-themed Mexican Hangout threatened to leave the prime Southeast Baltimore location after landlord John Koukides wanted them to move one building over. The owners even started asking for ideas about new locations on their Facebook page.
But the dispute was resolved after all parties decided they wanted to find a solution that would keep the restaurant in Canton. According to a statement issued Friday, Canton Community Association President Sean Flanagan was involved in the negotiations.
Sean’s passion and commitment to Canton and its future was a critical factor. He was instrumental in our negotiations and I don’t believe we would have come to terms without his involvement,” McCusker said in the statement.
No word yet whether Hubcap margaritas were shared in celebration.
