Former Maryland Schools Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick was elected to serve on the board of directors for The SEED Foundation.

Dr. Grasmick was Marylandโ€™s first female state superintendent and the U.S.โ€™s longest serving appointed schools chief. The former teacher served in the role of Maryland State Superintendent of Schools until June of last year.  Currently, Dr. Grasmick is a Towson University Presidential Scholar for Innovation in Teacher and Leader Education.

The SEED Foundation partners with cities to prepare underserved students for success in college and beyond. SEEDโ€™s model integrates an academic program with a boarding program that teaches life skills and provides a safe and secure environment. The Foundation opens and supports public boarding schools and has two schools: The SEED School of Washington, D.C. (opened in 1998) and The SEED School of Maryland (opened in 2008).
