Former Maryland Schools Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick was elected to serve on the board of directors for The SEED Foundation.
Dr. Grasmick was Maryland’s first female state superintendent and the U.S.’s longest serving appointed schools chief. The former teacher served in the role of Maryland State Superintendent of Schools until June of last year. Currently, Dr. Grasmick is a Towson University Presidential Scholar for Innovation in Teacher and Leader Education.
The SEED Foundation partners with cities to prepare underserved students for success in college and beyond. SEED’s model integrates an academic program with a boarding program that teaches life skills and provides a safe and secure environment. The Foundation opens and supports public boarding schools and has two schools: The SEED School of Washington, D.C. (opened in 1998) and The SEED School of Maryland (opened in 2008).
