In case you haven’t heard, NBC will soon be filming a live-action version of Hairspray in December–and they want a real-life Baltimorean to join the cast.
The network is looking to cast a local for the musical’s big dance number, and has helpfully provided an instructional video so you can practice in advance.
Auditions are slated for September 15, and will be held at the Hippodrome starting at 8 AM; dancers will be judged by Maddie Baillio, who will be playing Tracy Turnblad in the NBC show, as well as a member of the production’s choreography team and an NBC exec. Three finalists will be selected from among the auditioners, and one lucky winner will join the cast of the live show, which includes Ariana Grande, Martin Short, and Jennifer Lawrence.
The audition announcement doesn’t say anything about making sure your Baltimore accent is in tip-top form, but I’m sure that couldn’t hurt, either.
