This summer, parents can give their teens a unique opportunity to explore their futures! CCBC’s new Career Pathways Series, designed for youth ages 12-17, offers expert-led sessions and interactive classwork that lets teens explore careers in fields like aquatics, beauty and skilled trades.
The 15-hour, weeklong courses run throughout July, from 1-4 p.m., at CCBC’s Essex and Dundalk campuses.
Teens can test-drive and gain skills in:
- Aquatics: Learn water safety and aquatic programming management, plus earn Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
- Beauty: Master the essentials of hair, makeup and styling while gaining valuable experience in the beauty industry.
- Genomics: Dive into DNA structure, analysis, and health impacts, with opportunities for a virtual field trip and internship possibilities.
- Ecology: Engage in eco-exploration through hands-on activities, interactive discussions and a meaningful service project.
- Health: Study human anatomy, practice life-saving CPR and uncover the mysteries of the body.
- Trades: Gain practical skills in construction, electrical work, welding and plumbing while exploring exciting career paths in the trades.
“CCBC’s Career Pathways Series offers teens a valuable head-start by exploring career paths, building real-world skills and preparing for success,” said Michelle McCallum, CCBC’s director of Life Enrichment.
The program also gives students the opportunity to enhance their magnet school applications and prepare for college.
