A new Performing Arts Center planned for Downtown Columbia will include a housing component serving a full spectrum of household incomes.

State Sen. Guy Guzzone, Maryland Secretary of Housing and Community Development Jake Day and Howard County Executive Calvin Ball joined other stakeholders on April 8 to break ground on the new project.

The Performing Arts Center will be located at the current site of Tobyโ€™s Dinner Theater and will provide a new, upgraded space with a 340-seat capacity to accommodate the 46-year old cultural landmark. Tobyโ€™s in turn will become a part of the Columbia Center for the Theatrical Arts, a nonprofit organization that provides performing arts education to youth throughout the county.
