Forget surge pricing. A Baltimore man ran up the meter in an old-fashioned cab on New Yearโ€™s Day as he took a 250-mile cab ride to Virginia Beach.

When he arrived at his destination of a Virginia Beach Holiday Inn, the man told the cabbie heโ€™d โ€œbe right back.โ€ The cabbie probably thought he was going to the ATM to get the extra cash for the big fare. But, according to the Virginian-Pilot, he never returned.

While thatโ€™s a hefty bill, thereโ€™s no excuse when you can see the meter ticking up during the entire ride. Plus, flights are probably cheaper.
