National non-profit Back on My Feet, which serves homeless individuals, will host its annual 5K night run on Aug. 5 at Herring Run Park.

Starting at 6 p.m. Friday, the “Sneaks Come Out at Night” 5K run will take over the streets of Baltimore to support Back on My Feet’s work to “combat homelessness through fitness, community support, essential employment, and housing resources.”

Through their fitness-based model, combined with workforce development and housing resources, the nonprofit seeks to create a pathway to new jobs, homes, and lives for people experiencing homelessness.

Since its inception in 2007, the organization’s members have obtained more than 7,500 jobs and homes through the commitment to fitness and community.

“We’re thrilled to host the ‘Sneaks Come Out at Night’ 5K in Charm City this year,” said Back on My Feet Development Manager Valerie Blaemire in a statement. “This event is our fully charged 5K that brings our community, volunteers, members and alumni together for an exciting experience all while raising awareness of our mission and helping support our Baltimore members.”

Participants are able to register as solo runners or as a team of three.

Following the race, awards will be distributed to winning individuals and teams. There will also be a post-race party including free ice cream from Prigel Family Creamery, free snacks from Bimbo Bakeries, free injury screening from Sinai Running Rehabilitation Center, and more.

The race is sponsored by Brown Advisory and Bimbo Bakeries.
