Offit Kurman’s M&A Group Represents Retina AssociatesConcluding a vigorous and record-setting year business transactional activity in the Mid-Atlantic region, the attorneys of Offit Kurman Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Practice Group are proud to share news of another successful transaction closed for a client of the firm. Offit Kurman M&A lawyers Michael Mercurio and Brent Salmons represented Retina Associates (RA), in the company’s merger with The Retina Group of Washington (RGW). The merger was effective January 1, 2019.

Retina Associates has been dedicated to providing excellent retina care for its patients and communities for more than two decades. In the years since the practice’s founding by Dr. David Watt, the company has grown beyond its initial Annapolis location into a regional, five-office practice with locations in Bowie, Columbia, Rockville, and Silver Spring.

The Retina Group of Washington is not only the leading eye care provider in the District of Columbia, but also the largest practice in the United States solely dedicated to retinal care. RGW is committed to providing the highest quality patient care, conducting advanced research and introducing innovative techniques, educating all health care providers, and training world-class retinal surgeons. The practice specializes in treating retinal, vitreous and macular diseases throughout Virginia, Maryland, and DC. RGW currently has 14 offices in Maryland, Virginia, and the District, with a total of 26 full-time physicians.

The merger is the latest of more than a dozen in successful M&A deals closed for Offit Kurman clients in the last few months of 2018. Many of the firm’s M&A clients Mid-Atlantic health care businesses. Recent transactions have involved rehabilitation clients, chiropractic providers, and veterinary clinics, among others.
