Baltimoreans can now have fresh produce, baked goods, and artisan products from local farmers and vendors delivered to their front door.
Market Wagon, an online farmers market, announced their expansion into the Baltimore-Washington market on Tuesday.
Online delivery is now available in Baltimore, Washington, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
Baltimore-based vendors currently include A Friendly Bread, Grateful Pizza, and Kitchen Girl Farm, among others.
Market Wagon was founded in Indianapolis in 2016 by Nick Carter and Dan Brunner. Carter, who grew up on a farm in Indiana, hopes to use Market Wagon to improve local food systems.
“By bringing the same products you’d expect at a local farmers market into an online shop, we are increasing the market for local farms and artisans, and ultimately it’s those vendors that win,” he said in a statement.
At present, the startup operates in 19 states and partners with over 2,500 local farmers and artisans.
In the Baltimore market, deliveries are made every Tuesday afternoon, year-round. Customers can have their order delivered directly to their home for $5.95, or to a local market host for free.
Users can also find recipes and local stories on the Market Wagon blog.
