Baltimore native Steve Clevenger is back in the big leagues.

The Pigtown native was called up from Triple-A Norfolk today, the team announced. The catcher steps into the Camden Yards clubhouse as the Oโ€™s continue to look for solutions behind the plate as Matt Wieters recovers from Tommy John surgery. The addition of Ryan Lavarnway figured to complicate Clevengerโ€™s big league hopes with the club, but Lavarnway is now off the roster.

Clevenger, 29, grew up in Glen Burnie, and was a standout for Mt. St. Joseph High School. He started his career with the Chicago Cubs before moving to the Oโ€™s. He appeared in 35 games for the Oโ€™s last year.

Clevenger wonโ€™t get the start tonight. Caleb Joseph, who has been the go-to catcher in Wietersโ€™ absence, was named in the lineup.
