Baltimore native Steve Clevenger is back in the big leagues.
The Pigtown native was called up from Triple-A Norfolk today, the team announced. The catcher steps into the Camden Yards clubhouse as the Oโs continue to look for solutions behind the plate as Matt Wieters recovers from Tommy John surgery. The addition of Ryan Lavarnway figured to complicate Clevengerโs big league hopes with the club, but Lavarnway is now off the roster.
Clevenger, 29, grew up in Glen Burnie, and was a standout for Mt. St. Joseph High School. He started his career with the Chicago Cubs before moving to the Oโs. He appeared in 35 games for the Oโs last year.
Clevenger wonโt get the start tonight. Caleb Joseph, who has been the go-to catcher in Wietersโ absence, was named in the lineup.

Excellent.
