I was asked by one of my old schools to give a talk in October. The school, Roland Park Country School, has a continuing education program called Kaleidoscope which has a wide range of courses. As part of the series, they usually do several talks about Baltimore. And as you may know, I think that Baltimore is so much more than The Wire, or a John Watersโ movie.
Out of almost 1900 posts Iโve done over the past six-and-a-half years, more than 600 have been about Baltimore in some form. I think that this talk is going to be a lot of fun. I will be telling stories, showing slides, and generally professing my love for my city. Hope to see you there.

Nothing wrong with The Wire or a John Waters’ movie, Meg.
That’s true, Jane, but an over-emphasis on them doesn’t fairly represent Baltimore. Think of New York as only depicted through the lens of Broadway and the NYPD, or some such. That would be pretty limiting. We need to do a better job of spotlighting the additional features in Baltimore that make it an interesting and engaging place.
