Baltimore has an Edgar Allan Poe-themed football team, restaurant and beer. And don’t forget the mysterious orator who pops up with some cognac every now and again. Next up to pay tribute to the author is a downtown hotel.

According to the Baltimore Business Journal, the new Delta Hotels Baltimore Inner Harbor on Redwood St. has a number of touches that reference the literary master. The restaurant is named Tell-Tale, and it has Raven Beer. Around the hotel, the carpet has a Raven print. The main banquet and gathering spot is called the Raven Ballroom.

It doesn’t sound particularly subtle, but that’s because the idea is to communicate to visitors what Baltimore loves. Plus, the more we embrace Poe, the harder it is for the likes of cities like Boston to claim him.

Other locally-loved things also make an appearance at the new hotel, such as Zeke’s coffee served in the lobby and landmarks like the Bromo Seltzer Tower printed on the walls.

The hotel is scheduled to open in mid-January. It’s geared toward businesses, but it’s easy to see staycation seekers who really love Baltimore stuff as a secondary market.
