As has been noted in this space before, Baltimore rides for the Washington Capitals. That has continued into the Stanley Cup Finals, where the Caps hold a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven championship series. Baltimore has ranked in the top three television markets for three out of the four games, behind only the host cities, Las Vegas and D.C.
For Game 1, Charm City was fourth.
With the Capitals one game away from taking home Lord Stanley’s cup, Power Plant Live! is hosting an outdoor viewing party on the big screen this Thursday*, full sound and all. There will also be games to play and red, white and blue boozy snowballs for sale.
Per Facebook, there will also be “$3 Miller Lite/Coors Lights, $4 call brand cocktails and $5 Smirnoff Bombs and Jack Fire,” and DJs will be spinning during commercial breaks.
Typically, this kind of outdoor party is the domain of, you know, the city where the team actually plays. But this is the closest thing we’ve got, and what the hell, right?
Doors open at 6 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are available to guarantee entry into the event but are not required. Admission is free.
A rep for Power Plant Live! says it is not yet determined if there will be a similar party for potential Games 6 or 7, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
Correction: An earlier version of this story said the party was on Thursday, the scheduled date for a potential Game 6. It is Thursday at 8 p.m., the time of Game 5. Baltimore Fishbowl regrets the error.
