It’s not exactly a surprise, because now we know, but it’s certainly not a lot of notice. Tickets go on sale today at 5 p.m. for a Prince concert at Royal Farms Arena on Sunday. The artist is expected to debut his new protest song “Baltimore,” about “the slew of killings of young black men,” including Baltimore’s Freddie Gray.
Prince is calling the concert “Rally 4 Peace.” It’s intended as a “catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the U.S.”
Tickets will be sold through LiveNation.com starting at 5 on Wednesday. The website hasn’t posted any information about the show, including ticket prices, as of this morning.
Concertgoers are asked to wear something gray “[a]s a symbolic message of our shared humanity and love for one another.”
We can expect “several industry superstars” to be there, according to the promoter.
