Quarterback is considered the most important NFL position. So it’s probably not a good sign that signal-caller play ahead of Sunday’s Ravens-Jets game is something of a toss-up.

Joe Flacco’s shoulder is the biggest mystery. The Ravens quarterback sat out of practice on Wednesday, reporting soreness in his right shoulder. That’s the one he uses to throw. Flacco said it was “nothing to worry about,” but the fact that he had an MRI will only serve to cause concern until he takes the field once again. The Ravens already switched offensive coordinators this year, so having the veteran quarterback go down after returning from last year’s knee injury probably wouldn’t help stabilize things.

Ravens Nation can feel secure in the fact that the other team doesn’t have the QB position entirely figured out either. The Jets are changing field generals in mid-campaign, with Geno Smith set to start Sunday instead of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Smith is best known for being punched by his own teammate, causing him to miss last season. But everyone has forgotten about that as the Jets look to bounce back from a 1-5 start.

Brandon Marshall full quote on Geno Smith: “It’s amazing to see this guy grow and really, you know, punch adversity in the face.” #Jets
