If you’ve watched the ABC political thriller Scandal, you know all about Olivia Pope. In case you need a refresher, Pope is a fixer–basically, the person you call in when everything is falling apart. And while Olivia Pope is fictional, she’s based on a real-life political strategist Judy Smith.
According to CNN, Baltimore has called in Smith to help deal with the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death in police custody. In an odd example of life imitating art imitating life, Scandal recently featured a storyline about a young, unarmed black man who was killed by police.
Will Smith be the real-life superwoman that Baltimore needs right now? That remains to be seen.
