Mount Vernon is about to get a delicious addition to the neighborhood in the form of Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro, and Café.
The new location will be in City House Charles, at 1001 N. Charles St. The menu will feature a mix of artisan breakfast sandwiches, omelets, oven-baked melts, cast iron pressed sandwiches, and more.

“Our new Mt. Vernon location is the perfect detour on the way to work for a quick cup of coffee or a bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant,” said Brody Tennant, owner and managing partner of Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro and Café. “We cannot wait to meet our new neighbors and share our unique flavors and delicious pastries made from scratch daily.”
The goods are baked fresh daily, including a bacon and gruyere swirl with sauteed bacon and gruyere cheese rolled into croissant dough and topped with additional gruyere. A Danish filled with sweet cheese is also baked fresh daily. The café has expanded its menu to include a variety of vegan products, as well, including croissants and Danishes.

Roggenart has five locations across central Maryland and Northern Virginia. It has been in business since 2017, offering freshly baked goods, breakfast and lunch dishes, and bold coffee. The word “roggenart” means “the art of rye” in German.
“Creating doughs and food from scratch with simple, whole ingredients and passion is at the heart of Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro and Café,” reads the press release announcing the Mount Vernon location’s opening.
The café will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
